Record group 85-94 consists of two sets of records of the Michigan Department of Conservation, Fish Division. The first set of records are of lake and stream project improvements (1950-1962). Contains correspondence, reports, maps, agreements with the Fish Division and landowners for "improving" their access to bodies of water, and field reports. The field reports reveal what kind of seine was used to catch the fish sample, what the water temperature was, how large an area was covered, the number of fish caught, what kind they were, and the weight of each fish. The second set of records are of fishing legislation (1927-1966). Contains correspondence, maps, newspaper clippings, petitions, and statistics. These records reveal what kind of control the Legislature has maintained over commercial fishing in the Great Lakes.
